One way to think about the AOCs of Languedoc is to divide them into five groups defined by similar “elemental” features and wine styles. Here we take a look at “The Mountains”:
- More continental climates, closer to the Cévennes Mountain range. Marked by slightly higher rainfall and wider diurnal ranges
- Grape profiles also more closely resemble the nearby Rhone Valley
- Beautifully structured wines, suitable for longer aging
- Examples include: Pic Saint Loup, Terrasses du Larzac, Faugères
