Elemental Languedoc – The Mountains

One way to think about the AOCs of Languedoc is to divide them into five groups defined by similar “elemental” features and wine styles. Here we take a look at “The Mountains”:

  • More continental climates, closer to the Cévennes Mountain range. Marked by slightly higher rainfall and wider diurnal ranges
  • Grape profiles also more closely resemble the nearby Rhone Valley
  • Beautifully structured wines, suitable for longer aging
  • Examples include: Pic Saint Loup, Terrasses du Larzac, Faugères
